Written by Scott Stratten, this is a fairly short read, which is far better than the corporate fluff you find in many marketing books.  It outlines a simple strategy to get you started, and gives you a load of industry tips and things to avoid, so that you may try social media marketing without any negative repercussions.

This book by Brian Solis is really good on the single subject of creating an engaging social space.  The advice is correct and so easy to action, that he puts other books to shame.

This book by Mari Smith is just what you need if you are looking for a sizable Facebook following.  She teaches you how to engage your followers, so that they keep checking in on you and also, that they tell their friends.

Facebook Marketing: An Hour a Day

This book by Chris Treadaway was co written by Mari Smith and proclaims itself as a Facebook marketing must have.  It’s not really the bible that it claims to be, but there are points within the book that you should really consider if your marketing plan involves Facebook.

Inbound Marketing: Get Found Using Google, Social Media, and Blogs (New Rules Social Media Series)

This book by Dharmesh Shah is a little dated but still relevant.  You know how you pick up a marketing or psychology book from the 70’s and some of it seems wrong, but there are still snippets of greatness in it?  Well that is pretty much how this 2009 book it.  There are still lessons to be learnt within this book that will be relevant a whole 3 years later (which in non-online terms is about 25 years).
